A song I made for a friend.

A self-made music video for my song “God”.  Yes, it actually pertains to what the song is about.

Invalid syntax error: extra frames blah blah blah”

At this point, I’ve created a few of the movie clips in my animation.  Now, I’m trying to glue them together with action script.

First, I tried using some of Leon’s example button codes from his site, but none of them seemed to work.  I then tried researching some code online and came across a “tellTarget” route.  Of course, I’m running into more problems.  The code is telling a specific button to go to a specific frame to play a specific movie clip when it’s clicked.  I keep getting:  Invalid syntax error:  extra frames blah blah blah”.

I’m going to sleep.

The process involved in making this interactive animation is becoming very……..mind-humping.  So far, I’ve created the 1st and second sections, involving only the first line and title of the lyrics.

The pattern for structure I’m using now may be the one I end up sticking with.  This way, the end and beginning of each section will be in their own movie clip (since the end and the beginnings both have animations involved).

Sleep

The evening hangs beneath the moon
A silver thread on darkened dune
With closing eyes and resting head
I know that sleep is coming soon

Upon my pillow, safe in bed
A thousand pictures fill my head
I cannot sleep my minds a flight
And yet my limbs seem made of lead

If there are noises in the night
A frighting shadow, flickering light
Then I surrender unto sleep

Where clouds of dreams give second sight

What dreams may come both dark and deep

Of flying wings and soaring leap

As I surrender unto sleep
As I surrender unto sleep

For our next project, “meaning and interactivity”, I’m choosing to work with “Sleep” by Eric Whitacre.  Whitacre is a Choral composer.  This song means a hell of a lot to me and I feel that the humbleness that it portrays is something we should all strive for.

Technical Fricken Difficulties

Alright, Flash…that’s enough. Just get over yourself and let me carry on a motion tween for more than 50 frames.  I mean, it’s not like it’s too much to ask.  What, you’ll develop some sort of software system error?  Get over it.

I’m coming along quite nicely with most of my animations, but my movie clip inside scene 1 is acting up when it gets past around frame 235.  I’ve tried numerous things, but I think that when it comes down to it, I need Leon’s help.

After refining my concept over and over again, I’ve decided I better land on something.  I’m going to portray how short life is (or just that feeling you get at the end of Forest Gump when that feather is floating around) through a stick figure being drawn and slowly falling past events and eras in life that most of us go through.  The song “After We Have Left Our Homes” by MuteMath will be a curcial part of the animation, seeing as the end end coincides with the repeating lyric “when can we start over?”.
